Jeff Horwat is an artist, a teacher and a writer from Pennsylvania. His artwork uses a whimsical and playful visual language to express ideas about identity, religion, and philosophy. This visual language is primarily composed of toys that exist in an ambiguous checkered floored universe. Jeff draws strong influences from archetypal symbolism, dreams, personal experiences, 90’s alternative rock music and religious iconography. Through the relationships and juxtapositions of these toys with other objects, different meanings and narratives are formed.
Jeff currently resides in Champaign, Illinois where he’s working towards a Ph.D in Art Education at the University of Illinois while continuing to making art.
